NMB FACEBOOK POST

North Myrtle Beach continues to remain a top destination for collegiate spring training events.

Both the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic collegiate softball and the High Tide Ultimate Frisbee will be in full swing this week at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex. Each event is recognized as one of the premier spring training events for its respective sport and each event is being held for the fourth year in a row in North Myrtle Beach. In total, close to 300 collegiate teams will be participating in the multi-day events. Each team is expected to stay 4-6 nights in North Myrtle Beach.

By the end of the month, over 4500 players, coaches, and spectators from 32 states will have visited North Myrtle Beach for these events. Each of the events is signed to a long-term contract ensuring that North Myrtle Beach will continue to be a top spring training destination.

Collegiate spring training events are estimated to generate approximately 5 million dollars of direct economic impact to the community. In addition to collegiate spring training, North Myrtle Beach will also be welcoming an estimated 100 High School spring training teams to the area in April.

MARCANO PHOTOS 3-4-18

There was a familiar face for Wesley Wolverines fan at last Sunday’s, March 4’s, Stevenson Mustang game.
Jose Marcano
It was Jose Marcano, father of Assistant Coach Nina Marcano, who has been photographing Wolverine fastpitch games for the past four – this is his fifth – year.

Jose shares his photos with this blog for players, their family and friends, to review and/or download for their own memories and personal use.

Look for his photography at this space for many future games in this 2018 season.

Wesley Wolverines join newly

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College athletic department announced Thursday that the school will end its 12-year membership in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) at the conclusion of the 2017-18 academic year to become a charter member of the newly formed Atlantic East Conference (AEC) on July 1, 2018.

The Wesley Wolverines (1,384 undergrads) will join the Cabrini University Cavaliers (1650 undergrads), Gwynedd Mercy University Griffins (2,035 undergrads), Immaculata University Mighty Macs (1,555 undergrads), Marymount University (no softball team), Marywood University Pacers (1,931 undergrads) and Neumann University Knights (2,278 undergrads) to become founding members of the AEC. All schools, except Delaware’s Wesley, are eastern Pennsylvania based.

"Wesley College is proud and excited to be part of the newly formed Atlantic East Conference," said Wesley College President Robert E. Clark II. "The AEC is made up of private faith-based institutions with similar values and a common goal of providing the best competitive and educational opportunities for our student-athletes, and potential student-athletes in our region."

All of Wesley's NCAA-sponsored sports will compete in the Atlantic East except football, which will remain an associate member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).
