Wolverine Ashley Royer named
best junior playing DIII softball
Wesley Wolverine junior #13 UT Ashley Royer (Lititz, PA) has been named the “BEST JUNIOR IN D3 SOFTBALL” after online voting by Hero Sports this past week. The poll was conducted among five finalist.
After 55 at bats as of this morning, Ashley leads the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) with a .527 average. She also ranks second with 9 doubles and a .527 OBP, third with 20 hits, and fifth by both slugging .782 with 20 runs scored.
Ashley is a utility player who primarily guards the hot corner at third base but you may find her covering just about any infield or outfield position, including catcher.
Ashley is no stranger to fastpitch recognition. She finished last season as a Wolverine sophomore by being chosen for the first team on the 2017 NFCA Division III All- Atlantic region roster as well as being named an All-American Scholar over the past two years. Wesley College recognized her as their “2017 Breakout Athlete” with the college’s special season ending Wespy awards, while the softball team dubbed her as their “Offensive Player of the Year”. She has also earned a CAC All-Conference spot and picked up a Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week award last March 2017.
