She’s no stranger to the big game.
As last season wound down, Jessica Anderson – the starting pitcher for Smyrna High, Smyrna, DE, over the past three years – found herself taking the circle for a DIAA State Championship tournament game (eventually won by Milford High). Then, later in the summer, she celebrated with the 18U Delaware Cobras Gold after her club team won the USA Softball Maryland/DC/Delaware Class A State Championship.
Today was another huge day for her of even more importance as Jessica chose Wesley College for her pursuit of a bachelor degree. In doing so, Jessica becomes the first fastpitch Wesley Wolverine signee of 2018!
A 2nd team All-Stater who also has been named All-Conference multiple times, Jessica led the Smyrna Eagles last year to their spectacular 15-3 record.
“Jessica is an outstanding pitcher in both velocity and spin,” said Wolverine Head Coach Juli Greep. “She will add great depth to our pitching rotation and can also contribute as a first baseman or with a bat.”
Jessica’s mother, Michele Boole Anderson, is a Wesley Alumnus, making Jessica the third member of the pitching staff whose mother was once a Wolverine! The other two are freshman #17 P/ 1B Juli Neel (Haddon Township, NJ) and freshman #4 P/ UT Abbey Mayse (Cecilton, MD).
